For our meeting on 17th November we welcome Keith Townsend to speak to us about ‘The Parker Solar Probe’

Keith joined Peterborough Astronomical Society in 2009 and became Treasurer from 2011 until 2020. In 2012 PAS co-hosted a ‘Star Gazing Live’ event with the BBC and needed volunteer speakers. He presented a talk about Curiosity, the Martian Rover and thoroughly enjoyed the research which that entailed.

He is really keen to promote interest in astronomical science to the general public and so the decision to offer talks on a wider basis was entirely logical.

He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society in 2016 and has kept a close relationship with many astronomical societies and Facebook groups related to the science of astronomy.

His talk on the Parker Sun Probe is all his own research and is a favourite subject for all his audiences.
