As part of our 'outreach' programme to offer access to the night sky to our members and interested non-members, the Nene Valley Astronomical Society is hosting two special 'Moonwatch' events for two consecutive evenings in March.
On Thursday 21st March we will be setting up telescopes outside Sudborough Village Hall, Main Street, Sudborough from 8.00pm, whilst on Friday 22nd March we will be at Chelveston Village Hall, Caldecott Road, Chelveston.  On both evenings, you are very welcome to join us from 8.00pm, to look through the telescopes and find out more about the night sky.  Both evenings are free of charge with refreshments also being available.
In addition to the Moon, these evenings also offer the chance to view the planet Jupiter, a selection of bright star clusters and potentially the reasonably bright Comet Pannstarrs.
Booking is not necessary for these evenings, however we would advise all those attending to dress warmly and bring a suitable torch (red light if possible).
Please note that viewing is only possible with clear skies, however if the weather is inclement then a short talk will be held and members will still be on hand to answer any questions.
Please note that access to the observing site at the rear of Sudborough Village Hall is via a small number of steps.  The observing site at Chelveston Village Hall is on level ground.
